So, what are Blue Zones?

Blue Zones are five special places in the world where people live much longer and healthier lives than most. These areas include

Okinawa, Japan

Sardinia, Italy

Nicoya, Costa Rica

Ikaria, Greece

Loma Linda, California

Scientists studied these places to find out what helps people there live to 90 or even 100 years old without getting many of the diseases that shorten life, like heart problems or diabetes.

The secret isn’t magic—it’s their diets and lifestyles. People in Blue Zones eat mostly plants, like beans, vegetables, and whole grains, and they don’t eat much meat or processed food. They stay active by walking, gardening, or doing chores rather than hitting the gym. They also take time to relax, spend time with family and friends, and have a sense of purpose in their lives. These habits not only help them live longer but also feel healthier as they age, which is what scientists call a longer "healthspan."
